Your brave, there are so many answers, but for me personally, i like to get right in their with passion, but keep it with in a language that others will understand, if i myself read gross accounts of sex or a love affair, i walk away. The hardest part for me is writing as an older women, explaining the act of love between to older people is the hardest thing i have done..i dont want my younger readers to go eww & i dont want my older readers to say what a lot of crap. I tread a fine line. Do i have fun? Yes i do..to word a love scene with out being offensive or crude is becoming a specialty of mine.
I adore reading stories about romances between “older” characters. Yes, the sex would definitely have to be handled carefully, for all the reasons you’ve stated, but it’s always in the writing, whether an idea works or not. And I love the fact that there’s so much variety in the romance genre. There’s a book out there for every reader! And that’s the way we like it 🙂
